Here at the nursery we grow a selection of the more popular native and ornamental trees, mostly in 7.5 litre pots to produce a young tree in the height range of 150-200cm - large enough to make a little impact and small enough to be reasonably priced.
We do sometimes have a surplus of certain varieties and these are sold at a significant discount to our usual catalogue prices. While we cannot predict what will be in any of our sales as they are surplus stock, some of the more common/popular ones are featured below!
The June Berry, Amelanchier lamarckii brings a flurry of beautiful white flowers in spring as the bronzy tinted new foliage emerges, lovely as a tree, shrub or hedge.
Himalayan Birch has very striking bark making it one of the most popular choices for winter interest. As the tree ages the bark becomes a brighter more vivid white, contrasts well with colured stem dogwoods.
The familiar peeling white Bark of Silver Birch makes this narrow conical native tree a favourite choice for impact in the garden and a very popular plant at our sales. Produces yellow catkins in spring.
A small tree that exudes a sweet burnt sugar scent in autumn hence its name. Candy Floss or Katsura tree has heart shaped leaves turning many colours over the seasons, an unusual addition to the garden.
The Tibetan Cherry has the most beautiful shining copper-mahogany coloured bark on older specimens. It is a small but robust tree with willow like leaves and insignificant white flowers.
Rich brown seed pods follow scented white flower clusters of the Robina pseudoaccacia Frisia. Rich golden feathery foilage adds a lovely contrast and interest to a garden.
Laburnum x watererii Vossi is small tree usually growing in a vase shape but can be trained into other shapes. Beautiful fragrant bright yellow racemes of trailing flowers, a staple tree of spring gardens!
The Japanese Larch or Larix kaempferi is one of the few conifers that are deciduous, the eyecatching sea green foliage that emerges looking so fresh in Spring turns rich golden yellow in Autumn.
Sorbus aucuparia, the Mountain Ash or Rowan - a lovely small tree that grows practically anywhere delighting humans and birds with its colourful berries in late summer after the white flower heads.
The Lombardy Poplar, Populus nigra italica is fast growing and a very distinctive deciduous tree, great for architectural planting where space permits, or for a tall narrow protective shelter screen
Liriodendron tulipifera, the Tulip Tree has a very distinctive and attractive saddle shaped leaf. A conical large tree with beautiful and different orange, yellow and green tulip shaped flowers and yellow autumn hues.
